Traditional Chinese cupping therapy:

Cupping therapy is a form of  an alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin. It is less known treatment that is part of Oriental medicine. When we talk about Traditional Chinese medicine it brings to mind acupuncture and the use of natural herbs as healing remedies. Like in acupuncture cupping follows the lines of the meridians

We practice  “air cupping", instead of using a flame to heat the cup, the cup is applied to the skin, and a suction pump is attached to the rounded end of the jar. The pump is then used to create the vacuum. It is considered safe. There’s no  risk of fire, heat or surgery.

As the skin under a cup is drawn up, the blood vessels at the surface of the skin expand. This may result in small, circular bruises on the areas where the cups were applied. It can cause some swelling and bruising on the skin. These are usually painless,  and disappear within a few days of treatment.

Cupping is one of the best deep-tissue therapies available. Athletes talk about how cupping therapy has helped them perform better. It is highly effective in helping athletes recover from the strenuous training.

In Sajati we combine medical massage and cupping depending on  the patients needs.

Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism,

Patients with inflamed skin, cases of high fever or convulsions, and patients who bleed easily, are not suitable candidates for cupping. This treatment is not suitable for pregnant women, children under the age of 12.
